Importing and Exporting Product Reviews

If you're moving to us from another review app, launching a new store with reviews from a supplier, or just want a backup of your review data, you don't have to start from zero. This guide walks through how to bring reviews into your store and how to export them back out.

Overview

The Import/Export tool lets you:

  • Import reviews from a CSV file — either your own spreadsheet, an export from Shopify, or an export from another review app (Judge.me, Loox, or Junip).

  • Import reviews directly from a product page on AliExpress or CJ Dropshipping using a one-click browser bookmarklet — no file needed.

  • Export every review in your store to a single CSV file, so you always have a portable copy of your data.

You'll find both tools under Settings → Import Reviews and the Export action in the reviews manager.

Importing Reviews

Step 1: Choose your source

Open the import tool and pick the platform you're importing from:

Step 2: Import your reviews

If you chose a CSV-based platform (Custom, Shopify, Judge.me, Loox, or Junip):

  1. Optionally select a specific product to attach the imported reviews to. If you skip this, reviews are matched to products automatically using the product information in your file.

  2. Drag and drop or select your CSV file. Files up to 20MB are supported.

  3. If you're building your own file, click Download template to get a correctly formatted starting point.

  4. Click Process migration to start the import.

If you chose AliExpress or CJ Dropshipping:

  1. Drag the Import Tool button into your browser's bookmarks bar (or copy the tool link if drag-and-drop isn't available).

  2. Visit the product page on AliExpress or CJ Dropshipping that has the reviews you want.

  3. Click the bookmark you just saved. It will read the reviews on the page and send them straight to your store.

When the import finishes, you'll see a confirmation showing how many reviews were successfully imported, along with a count of any that were skipped.

CSV column reference

If you're preparing your own file (or editing an exported one), it should use these column headers:

Column

product_id

The product this review belongs to

product_title

Product name (used to help match the review if no ID is given)

product_handle

Product URL handle (also used for matching)

customer_name

Name of the reviewer

customer_email

Reviewer's email address

verified

Whether to mark the review as a verified purchase (true/false)

Note: If you're importing from Judge.me, Loox, or Junip, you don't need to rename their columns to match this list — we automatically recognize each platform's own column names (for example, Loox's nickname or Judge.me's picture_urls) and map them for you.

Good to know before you import

  • File size: CSV uploads are supported up to 20MB.

  • Review limits for the bookmarklet: Each AliExpress/CJ import captures up to 20 reviews per page on the Free plan, or 100 reviews per page on the Pro plan.

  • Video reviews: If your current plan doesn't include video reviews, any video attachments in an imported review will be removed automatically — the rest of the review still imports normally.

  • Ratings: Ratings are always kept between 1 and 5. If a row is missing a rating or has an invalid value, it defaults to 5 stars.

  • Dates: Use a standard date format (e.g. 2026-03-14). If a date can't be read, the review is imported with today's date instead.

  • Yes/no columns: For anonymous, published, and verified, you can use 1, true, yes, or y to mean "yes."

If something goes wrong

Imports are all-or-nothing per row, not per file — valid rows import successfully even if others fail. If a row is skipped, you'll see why, for example:

  • The row is missing a review body, or the body is too short.

  • The product referenced in the row couldn't be matched to anything in your store.

Your file also needs at least one header row and one row of data — a file with only headers (or no rows at all) won't import. If every row fails, you'll see the first few error messages so you can fix your file and try again.

Exporting Reviews

To download a copy of your reviews, open the reviews manager and choose Export from the actions menu. This downloads a single file named all_product_reviews_export.csv, using the same column layout described above — so an exported file can be edited and re-imported later, or moved to another store.

Please note: the export always includes every review in your store, regardless of which tab (Published, Pending, Needs Reply) or search filter you currently have applied. There's currently no way to export a filtered subset — think of it as a full backup of your review library rather than a filtered download.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I import the same file twice?
Yes, but be careful — reviews aren't automatically checked for duplicates, so importing the same file twice will create two copies of each review.

Does the export include review images?
Yes. Image URLs are included in the media column, separated by semicolons.

Can I export just the reviews for one product, or just my published reviews?
Not currently — export always produces your complete review history in one file.

What happens to my existing reviews when I import more?
Imported reviews are added alongside your existing ones; nothing is overwritten or replaced.
